With her long-time partner Kerri Walsh-Jennings expecting her second child in May, Misty May announced via her website that her partner for the 2010 AVP season would be last-year’s MVP Nicole Branagh.
May-Traenor, who missed all but one 2009 AVP tournament due to an achille’s tendon injury, said she is “very excited” about her new partner. “ Nicole is such a dynamic player, it is going to be fun,” she wrote on her website.
ThisĀ new partnership will be the first time May-Traenor has played with anyone but Walsh-Jennings since 2001. The duo was named the Best Team of the Decade by Universal sports, and the list of their records, including the only back-to-back Olympics gold medals, is lengthy.
If all goes to plan the pair will reunite in time for the 2012 London Olympics and a run at a third time on the medal platform, but for now the Branagh/May-Traenor combo is definitely a team to watch.
