This week I’m taking a look at CoachRey.com, a website run by Chuck Rey. He has coached junior high, high school, club and college level teams, and his website is a treasure trove of information.
One of my favorite posts of his can be found here. In it he talks about different ways to motivate male and female athletes in a very academic way. That’s one of the things I like best about his site: his scientific approach to coaching. Rey has observed and studied under some of the best coaches out there, and it shows in the quality of his info.
The site is clearly directed at volleyball coaches rather than players, but you can learn quite a bit about the mathematics and statistics of the game by perusing it. If you have an eye for numbers and are a fairly advanced player, you’ll probably find something to interest you.
The Breakdown:
Website run by Chuck Rey, assistant coach at Winthrop University.
Target audience: High level volleyball coaches
Best information/resources: detailed discussion of coaching tactics; mathematical analysis of volleyball.
