AVP Back in Belmar

Published on June 25, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

After a brief hiatus, the AVP Tour returns to Belmar, New Jersey this weekend. Warm temperatures, a hugely competitive women’s bracket and the return of Phil and Todd should make for a hot weekend. rogers-dalhausser-volleyball

We’ve got Branagh/May-Treanor, the winners of the season opener in Fort Lauderdale, Davis/Johnson Jordan, who took Santa Barbara, and Jen Kessy/April Ross coming off back to back victories in Huntington Beach and Virginia Beach.

Over on the AVP website, Hans Stolfus is predicting a three-peat for Kessy/Ross, who are playing outstanding volleyball and using a key part of their game — their mouths — better than anybody else on the court.

At this point it’s hardly even fun to predict the men’s bracket; for anybody who puts money on any team but Dalhausser/Rogers, I’ve got a bridge in San Francisco to sell you. To cap it all, Phil and Todd were named athletes of the week by USA Today. For a complete bracket, check out AVP.com.

If anybody gets to hear the live broadcasts and Kerri Walsh’s commentary, I’d love to hear what you think in the comments. Hans Stolfus can’t stop gushing about it. I’m going to do my best to catch the games (women’s final airs live on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. ET, men’s final at 4 p.m. ET on Universal Sports) at a bar somewhere, but it’s always a crap shoot to see whether someone will air it.

ESPN3.com will also stream the women’s final live and UniversalSports.com will stream the men’s final live. Happy beach volleyball watching!
