AVP Adjusts San Francisco Stop

What was supposed to be the next stop on the AVP Tour this summer, a weekend at AT&T Park in San Francisco, has been postponed and relocated. Although still taking place in San Francisco, this stop will be at Little Marina Green Park on September 11 & 12.

The AVP’s CEO Jason Hodell said on their site: “We continue to work on adding new investors and hope to have a definitive announcement by next weekend.”

According to USA Today, the delay has its roots in money troubles. The AVP seems to need more time to secure investors and enough money to finish out the season.

New AVP Investors?

Hodell reported back in July that he and majority investor Nick Lewin have been in discussions with potential new sponsors for a long time and are confident that the agreement will be finalized in time for the season to continue uninterrupted.

The mystery partner is said to already be involved with several other sports entities, and the AVP hopes they will be able to use their connections to continue to capitalize on the sport’s Olympic success and expanded TV coverage.

Hopefully there will be a definitive announcement this weekend, which we will certainly cover here on Volleyball-life. Until then, stay tuned for more volleyball skills, drills and news while we wait for the next AVP stop in Mahattan Beach next weekend (Aug 21-22).
